"She likes it when the horn blows, you know..."

This new track from me takes the tasty vocals of Miss Beyonce Knowles in her guise as Foxxy Cleopatra, and snuggles her up on a big squishy sofa with Groove Armada's Your Song in a chilled little number I call Groove it Out.

Clearly the lesson being taught worldwide nowadays is that if you can't get your own way by asking nicely.. being generally abusive usually does the trick.

Anyone who knows any turkish and can help me out with the insults; please leave a translation in a comment; it may come in useful in the future!

"It is my intention to prove to this court that my client is completely innocent of the charges of theft of which he stands accused."

Gawd love sampling, it is a beautiful crime and does far more good than harm. Case in point is Backini, whose album Threads is a beautiful confection of jazzy brass samples, retro vocal snippets and tasty bass. His sound is downtempo Coldcut or Avalanches, and has the similar uplifting feeling to Since I Left You: like a warm sunny evening in a fading seaside resort; the album is beautiful with a slight sad tone that makes it compelling and enjoyable listening.

Champagne Flute epitomises the euphoric calm feeling the the album expresses, whilst Company B-Boy is a fun track that radiates the humour neccessary to sample-based music. Music should be fun, and this certainly is.

Read an interview with Backini here and a review on Threads here.

All the people... so many people

The 'leggers of GYBO have followed on from the overwhelming success of the London Booted project with their reworking of Blur's Parklife album, plus a bonus disc's worth of b sides on which they have unleashed their remixing skills, celebrating the tenth anniversary of the classic britpop album, in a project called Parkspliced

Once again the album, 2 discs and two exclusively designed cover design sets, is available for download at http://parkspliced.gybo.org in exchange for a donation to one of three chosen charities; Cancer Research, Amnesty International and Oxfam, or a good cause of the listener's choice.

"Blur: Parkspliced is more than just about the music. It is more than just a remix project, more than mere re-interpretation. This project is the follow-up to the insanely successful The Clash: London Booted project. This endeavor is about freedom, about unity and shared ideas. The artists and fans involved in this project share more than a common love of music; they are a family bound by ideas, inspiring each other and in turn being inspired to create, to think outside the box, to be unfettered by conventional music norms." - RadioQuita, Queen of Bootlegs.

Remixers McSleazy and Loo & Placido, who produce tunes for MTV Mash, have contributed stunning tracks to the album, which nestle alongside such gems as Dunproofin and m3's "Is This a Bootleg?" which expands on the chilled vibe of the original "Is This a Low". Go Home Productions, famed for his Ray of Gob mash up which pitted Madonna against the Sex Pistols, and is also involved with the hugely popular David Bowie mash up contest that the artist is running, has also contributed a track, "Londinium Loves" which combines Blur with Bon Jovi, the Beatles, the Bee Gees and The Kinks in a great sounding track.

The album is a superb example of the talent in the bootleg and mash up scene at the moment, and will no doubt be hugely successful in the wake of the media interest created by DJ DangerMouse's Grey Album, using the artists' talents to raise well deserved funds for charities.

Piracy Funds Terrorism

The Industry Trust for Intellectual Property Awareness today renewed its warning that music and film piracy is bad news by claiming that those who distribute pirate goods are not "lovable rogues" but are in fact involved in drugs rings, pornography, prostitution and terrorism. The group, which includes the UK home entertainment arms of Hollywood studios and retailers such as HMV and Asda - oh hang on, wait a minute, lets stop there. So what you are telling me is tha the retailers and distributers are pissed because someone else is making money, and that fact may well be connected to the ludacrous price that British retailers charge for these goods. That's hardly news. And since September 2001, it seems that everything is linked to terrorism. It is the new buzz word, it can create hatred and mass hysteria, and people have found that their cause gets a whole load of media attention when connected with the big T.

I believe that our intelligence is being seriously undermined. Terrorism is 2004's Emmanuel Goldstein - rage against it, hate it, and we will slowly but surely include more things under the terrorist blanket for you to direct your righteous anger against. Yeah sure, some dodgy people sell knock off goods. But not all people who use the internet to acquire music and films are evil scheming drugs lords. I however am up to my eyes in dodgy coke deals and smuggling hookers. Unfortunately I also suffer from amnesia, so I don't remember any of it, or, unfortunately, where I hid the money...

10000 Spoons has a website?

He does indeed, and it promises ...bootlegs...bastard pop...mash-ups...remixes...dj sets...larks' tongues...wrens' livers...chaffinch brains...otters' noses...badgers' spleens...wolf nipple chips, get 'em while they're hot, they're lovely...dromedary pretzels, only half a dinar...

How can you resist? So get yourself over there and sample some of his rich imperialist tit-bits, I guarantee you'll find something tastier than an ocelot spleen before you can say "Romanes Eunt Domus", just don't ask him if he has a knife..

www.10000spoons.tk

10000 Spoons was of course responsible for the brilliant Four Hoarse Men track from the London Booted project (and was recently mentioned in the Observer for it no less!) as well as my personal fave The Poisoned River which spread Groove Armada over the top of the Prodigy, with a touch of grated Run DMC and Aerosmith on top. Have a listen to his latest track Lemon Kelly in which he has made the notable achievement of making R Kelly listenable!

So off you go, go and have a look.. hang on, wait, wait.. you haven't given us time to hide!
