"The tragedy of your times, my young friends, is that you may get exactly what you want"

Unfortunately, I often find that what people want, and what they actually deserve are rarely the same thing. Christmas presents are probably the best example of this; a spoilt child may repeatedly express a desire for this years piece of over-marketed, mind-numbing crap (cf. Bratz dolls) when what they actually deserve is a tennis ball secured into their mouth with several strips of gaffer tape.
(What you wanted when you clicked on this link was probably something akin to how the site has been described, sassy social commentary perhaps, what you get is the rantings of a mad woman. Do you deserve it? Possibly.)

For many years I did not believe in natural justice. It was not something that fitted into my view of life. Life was unfair, bad things happened to the wrong people, and the bad people got all the good things. But, I learnt that these things are all part of life, and that the things that happen afterwards to redress the balance are often those that we would recognise as natural justice.

But who is to say what is fair? Are there good and bad people in this world? Or is it simply that each individual can divide people into categories of "people I get on with" and "people I don't get on with"? Every one of us has a slightly different idea of what behaviour is worthy of having people cast to hordes of salivating demons.

The best curse I ever heard was from Kate West; "I hope you get what you deserve." It works on so many levels. She also says that living well is the best revenge. And it really is, because it does not detract from your life in any way, in fact it enhances it, and you can simultaneously piss people off whilst reaching a state of nirvana. Great stuff.

What I'm not saying is that every bad thing that happens is some sort of karmic punishment, or that good things are rewards for good behaviour. What I am saying is that if good or bad things happen to you for a reason, I think you will know. Unless you are morally bankrupt, in which case I doubt you have the self-awareness to recognise the fact.

So my dear readers, I shall close by saying that I hope each and every one of you gets what you deserve. I'm sure you will.

Hex and the City was brought to you by the letters; B, L, O, G.. er, you get the picture...
